Chad and I went last night to enjoy a boys night out. Funny moment (minor spoiler):
Uhura makes a blunt statement of the premise of the reboot: “So we’re in a parallel universe”… my mind hears the Windows XP startup sound in my head :-)

Update: had a very funny conversation with a women in the seat next to me. She’s a resident, and had been to New Zealand on a vacation which included talking to some school children (year 2-3). They thought that the US was like “Cops”, and wanted to know if she’d been shot. I had to explain that it’s easy when you learn about another country via its TV output. I’m surprised that they didn’t ask her about the “Real Wives of Orange County” or some other pap.
